Before you set off on your Career Path, you first need to investigate the GPS.
Whenever you set out on a journey, a GPS is a good tool to have. A Global Positioning System will show you where you are and the path you should take to get to where you are going. When preparing for a career, the same is true. At VisionWise, GPS stands for Goals, Prepare, Survey and this is the process of going from where you are now to a place of purpose and career fulfillment.
Goals
Creating goals is a great first step in preparing for a career. As Yogi Berra once said, “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” The Goals phase includes an interview session to discuss what you’ve done and what you hope to do, as well as the Career Direct Assessment and report meeting. After this, you will have a better perspective of your direction and future.
Prepare
Phase two includes an opportunity to take what you have learned from phase one and begin to prepare for the journey ahead. This stage includes resume construction, developing a Linkedin profile, and network training. This step will lead you right up to the front door and prepare you to survey the opportunities that are ahead of you.
Survey
Phase three offers you guidance as you survey your career possibilities. This stage includes an exploratory session where you and your career coach will look together at the opportunities that have been discussed. You will also be guided on how to use key connections for job possibilities and learn how to best prep for job interviews. This stage can last a while as it takes time to survey and interview for jobs, and your career coach will be there with you throughout the process.
